Back by popular demand & numerous requests, is Pippin's blog. I know, it's been MONTHS. But don't worry he is still the center of our universe and getting loads of attention. AND, his 3rd birthday is this coming Wednesday (August 9th). His cake is on the way and should be here on Monday!

So, Pippin's new hobby is looking at himself. He has become his new fan club leader. It all started in the old house as we were taking our large decorative mirrors down (pictured above). We'd wonder where he was, only to find him staring at himself in a mirror. It's continued in the new house. Our bathroom has the really ugly "mirror doors" on the closet, and he can be found QUITE often staring at himself. What a ham!!!

Wow!! I can't believe it's been nearly a month since I've posted for Pippin!! That's so wrong!!! I must do better, but we are pretty busy trying to find him a new house with a nice backyard and fewer annoying, ugly dogs. Here is Pips helping his daddy celebrate his birthday, I think Pippin was just as excited about the presents as Brent was!

Target has some really cute new swimwear for dogs. At first I was bummed since all the cute stuff is for girl dogs. Then I saw them.....swim trunks for dogs. Once again they're too small and have to go back but they did make for some exciting pics!

Of course they're too small but it was fun to try! I just don't think pants were meant for dogs though!

Last weekend we did a lot of raking in the yard. We prefer to wait until spring so as many leaves as possible will blow into our older neighbor's yard. He rakes every week so I figure it gives him something to do. Afterwards we enjoyed the pretty day and played around in the yard. Brent was taking some photos of me blowing dandelions and I discovered Pippin was pretty interested in this game, too. Everything was going great until he ripped one out of my hands and ate it! Mmmmm....protein!

Pippin LOVES this ball. I got it at Target several months ago and it's much easier than smooth balls for him to carry around (the slobber factor). He carries it EVERYWHERE. At any given moment - while you're washing dishes, doing your makeup, cleaning, etc you'll feel a sharp nudge in the back of your calf. I don't even have to look anymore, I know it's Pippin with this blasted ball. But he's just so darn cute you have to toss it a few times for him.

Here are some pics from our walk to the park last weekend. Pippin loves to swing. He finds it relaxing and a great alternate place to take a nap.
Ok, that one was not from the park. I accidentally uploaded the wrong picture and since Blogger was so SLOW to post pics tonight I thought I'd leave it as a "freebie". It's actually from a game of tug Brent and Pippin were playing earlier this week. That's Pippin's intense "you'd better give me my toy or I'll take your hand off in a loving way" pose.

Today was bath day for Pippin. He hates taking a bath! We never use the bathroom upstairs, so when he hears me run water upstairs he instantly takes off and looks for a hiding place. Afterwards he streaks through the house. It's quite the strange little ritual. This pic was taken April 2004. Look at my enormous arms!! I was nearly 40 pounds heavier then. UGH!

A coworker forwarded me an email with various pet related anecdotes earlier this week, and I found this piece to be particularly funny (and TRUE!) Enjoy!

son/daughter who happens to be hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't

4. Dogs and cats are easier than kids because:

---- They usually come when called
---- They don't hang out with drug-using friends

Blizzard Day Activities

During the Blizzard of 06 we decided to get some take-out, curl up on the couch and watch a movie. Five minutes into the movie my brother called and talked for 1.25 hours and the "blizzard" was obviously a code name for "rain". Blah. But we did have a good game of fetch and tug. If you ask Pippin to bring you his football he'll bring the remains of this little monster everytime. Maybe if I asked him to bring me his little monster he'd bring me his football. Hmmmm.....

Pippin USED to Steal Socks...

and take them and destroy them... until one day Mommy went to the store and Daddy caught him red handed... um... pawed.

"YOU WANNA WEAR SOCKS? OH, WE'LL WEAR SOME SOCKS", I yelled as I took the socks out of his mouth and placed them on his feet. I then proceeded to have a impromptu photoshoot.

Needless to say... he hasn't destroyed a single sock since then.

Pippin has been upset with lack of updates. One day I came home to find him trying to open the laptop so he could post himself. He would have succeed if it weren't for his lack of thumbs.

After returning from Miami, we picked Pippin up from the kennel and he proceeded to sleep... for 3 days.

Today I spent the day at home (recovering from my neck injury) and Pippin couldn't have been more excited! He spent all day laying in the sun in the dining room while I spent the day on the couch. He's a typical teenager.

We got our heating bill (gas) today. OMG, $280. Seriously, it's not even that warm in our house!! Insane. The worst it's ever been is $190 a few years ago when gas spiked. Insanity, I tell you. Can I strike the gas company???

This picture totally sums up our weekend - rained out. I bought Pippin this little rain jacket back in the spring when we started walking. (How I long for green grass and budding trees!) It was too long so I took it back but not before we got some good pics of the look. No walk today, it's been raining ever since I got up and I don't think it's ever going to end. Pippin is so depressed he's done nothing but sleep all day. Except when he rode with me to pick up some lunch, although the heated seats in the Expy did make him a bit drowsy!

Staying Warm

This picture was taken during Pippin's very first winter, 2003-04. Back then he didn't have a lot of body fat, so on colder days he spent a large majority of his free time warming himself over the vents in the floor. Every winter when we first turn the heat on he migrates back to the vents. Who needs heated seats when you've got vents and chew toys!

Pippin is completely overwhelmed by the response he's gotten on his first day as a blogger. So far he has 110 hits today (to be updated once the day is complete), which is more than Brent or I have EVER had in one day. (My biggest day ever was 107.) Brittney even featured his new blog on Nashville is Talking. Pippin really enjoyed reading all the comments he got today, although he really, really wants to know why none of the people who come from Nashville is Talking ever leave comments!
